ALA2002 in Atlanta

2002-06-14

ALA 2002 was held in Atlanta, Georgia and the AmericanSouth.org project had a number of meetings around that convention that i needed to attend

the Woodruff library on Emory University campus where some of the meetings were held ... neat looking marble style

[ filesize:800x600 resolution: ]

an external side view of the library ... looks very imposing indeed

[ filesize:800x600 resolution: ]

what i think is the Candler library ... another Italian-villa-style marble facade building

[ filesize:800x600 resolution: ]

the local campus museum which alas i couldn't visit since i only got there on monday and they were closed :(

[ filesize:800x600 resolution: ]

a chapel on campus ... entranceway just looked neat

[ filesize:800x600 resolution: ]

more marble architecture all over the place

[ filesize:800x600 resolution: ]

Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta with the kids playing in the fountain since it was quite hot

[ filesize:1280x832 resolution: ]

the famous rings to indicate why this park exists (if you cant see the massive torches)

[ filesize:880x574 resolution: ]

the CNN Center at one end of the park

[ filesize:800x590 resolution: ]

the standard CNN logo picture ... only thing is i was alone so i snapped up someone else next to the logo for size ... and anyway i'm not a big fan :)

[ filesize:800x595 resolution: ]

the inside logo which was made up of tv screen images ... more interesting but less photographed

[ filesize:800x600 resolution: ]

inside foyer of the center

[ filesize:800x600 resolution: ]

on the way up the 8 floors to the top of the studio complex ... to start the tour

[ filesize:800x600 resolution: ]

first stop on the tour - a demo control room where we can see some of the different feeds that the station(s) get

[ filesize:600x800 resolution: ]

a blue screen demo ... turns out they use blue because it isn't found in most people's skin ... alas, this was the last place they let us take pics :(

[ filesize:800x600 resolution: ]

he big rotaring logo outside the World of Coca-Cola

[ filesize:800x600 resolution: ]

some fancy looking gizmo to show the bottling process

[ filesize:800x600 resolution: ]

loads and loads of historical articfacts like ads from around the world

[ filesize:1280x960 resolution: ]

the sample room where they had 42 brands of drinks made by the Coca-Cola company and sold around the world

[ filesize:800x600 resolution: ]

a cheesy quote - i just love cheesy quotes :)

[ filesize:790x558 resolution: ]

outside of Underground Atlanta as you leave the Coke exhibition

[ filesize:1254x680 resolution: ]

Kenny's Alley ... a place with some (bad) live music and food joints

[ filesize:594x672 resolution: ]

on the other side of Underground Atlanta, waterfalls and a fake person with a fake duck too!
