Trail Days at Damascus

1999-05-15

the very first internet friend who i visited was Comet, who invited me over during the annual Appalachian Trail - Trail Days celebration. most fascinating town - the AT goes right through the main street of the 800-population town.

a picture from Comet's porch ... just so you can share the view from there ... the tent belongs to one guy who just came up and asked if he could pitch his tent in her yard ... there were tons of hikers doing this all over the town

my very first porch swing experience ... made the most of it by getting in a lot of porch swing time over the weekend :)

the trail days march down the main street ... this must have been before the water fights started

a hole in the wall ? yup ... its just across the Tennessee border ... people were rappelling down the rock but we just walked up and down the steps

a bridge ... hmmm ... i think this one led to the town gazebo where all the entertainment happened ... i loved the flowers though ... looked really spectacular

the river that ran under the bridge ... beyond the river on the far bank behind the trees were people displaying and selling wares for the weekend

another interesting bridge ... i think this one was part of the trail behind Comet's house ... which i walked a fair way down once until i almost left the town ...
