I just had the same problem. It's probably your environment variables, like he said.
Refer to page 24 of the PDF manual. At the top of the page, there are two lines that must be put in your Autoexec.bat file (Set AMULET_DIR= blah, blah, blah). And make sure that the path matches the path for the file on your particular machine, otherwise you'll still get an error.
And BTW, I think this is a perfect example of poor distribution because the bloody thing isn't self-installing!!!
