: This could work, except of course for those of us who might have, due to our own fault or "circumstances beyond our control" or a little bit of both, aren't going to get much of ANY points for a project. Whatever the case may be, this "lowest project" grade would be pretty darn low. And then AVERAGING into the test scores, where it might be worth MORE than 7.5%? Destructive. No "potentially" about it. Just plain destructive. Getting rid of the lowest project grade does not harm those who have already done well; it even protects THEM from having something screw up one of the later projects for them. But averaging it in, ANYwhere, only harms those to whom it was meant to give a little help. I'm not 'dissing' you or anything, but I think that would be a bad idea.
Well...that is why you make it into an 'extra credit' so that it is optional...and not right out averaging the project grade...and since the projects are open to the rest of the class, it wouldn't violate the individual basis stated from the syllabus.
