Just to follow up on my own note...some reasons why it would be kewl to have one of our project grades to be averaged...
1.) No wasted points.
2.) Public "extra credit". From the syllabus...
"There will be NO extra credit
assignments on an individual basis."
By averaging the project grade as a form of 'extra credit' wouldn't violate the syllabus since it is available for everyone.
3.) You're going to ask questions regarding the project on the exam. Averaging in a project grade into the exam average (maybe even the final - since it's 30% of our grade) would certainly help a lot, and make the offer very, very attractive.
4.) And of course, you're a pretty cool guy :) (Ok, ok... mr. sandman is sprinkling some of his magic dust on me now....)
